Cheryl Edwards
I have enjoyed being a family mediator over the last 20 years and I am passionate about the benefits of working with families. Seeing the positive results of exploring communication and expectations with adolescents has inspired me to reach out to younger families too.
I hold two mediation qualifications for different aspects of family work, a Certificate in Mediation and also a FMCA qualified mediator for divorce and separation matters, including the child inclusive mediation.
Working for a charity for 19 years, repairing parent and teenager relationships, I helped to prevent youth homelessness. Alongside Connect Resolve, I also work for Family Mediation Cymru (divorce and separation matters) and I am registered with the college of mediators and the Family Mediation Council. If it is sorting out child arrangements with an ex-partner you are looking for, please see www.familymediationcymru.co.uk.
I have always worked with young people, before a mediator, I was a youth worker and a support worker for teenagers in care. I hold a BSc (Hons) Psychology with Criminology degree, where my interest in people and relationships started.
I like to think of myself as creative and I can vary how I help people to open up and get their ideas across by involving visual aspects, enabling inclusivity.
Over the last 10 years, I have trained front line workers in communication and mediation skills. As Wales didn’t have it’s own Agored qualification for Mediation, I have written, delivered and assessed the Certificate in Mediation.
I hold a current enhanced DBS check.
